DURHAM – Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business will be hosting its 15th annual Sustainable Business & Social Impact Conference this week, in which hundreds of students, professionals, private-sector executives and nonprofit leaders join to discuss topics around social-impact entrepreneurship and investing.

The full-day conference—held on February 12 at the Fuqua School of Business—is organized by students from the Net Impact Club, in partnership with Duke’s Center for the Advancement of Social Entrepreneurship (CASE), a division of the Fuqua School of Business.

This year’s program comes with the theme “Innovating for a Better World.” CASE Executive Director Erin Worsham says she hopes that in discussing topics under this theme, attendees will walk away “motivated by stimulating conversations with hundreds of people that have different perspectives, but the same goal.”

Worsham added, “Our Net Impact Club student organizers have put together an incredible agenda about how innovations from across the public, private and nonprofit sectors can make a positive difference in our world.”

The keynote speakers are Karen Beadle, senior director of partnerships and engagement at Nike, and Jason Rahlan, director of social impact and philanthropy at Chobani. Other headlining speakers include Freya Williams, CEO of international consultancy firm Futerra North America, and Dan Heath, a New York Times best-selling author and senior fellow at Duke’s CASE program.

A series of breakout panels will cover four areas: social impact in the value chain, investors and ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance), tech for good and changing systems. Panelists represent a mix of companies and organizations, from Microsoft to IBM and Amazon, to Moody’s Foundation and the Obama Foundation.
