On April 30, an information session about E.K. Powe Elementary School’s pre-kindergarten summer program will be held for the parents of youngsters who will be kindergarteners at E.K. Powe in the fall.

The Stepping Stones program is a free four-week, transition-to-school summer program for incoming kindergarteners with little or no preschool experience. The program is sponsored by Duke University.

The information session, led by representatives from E.K. Powe and Duke’s Office of Durham and Regional Affairs, will begin at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, April 30, at the school, 913 Ninth St., Durham.

This summer, the program will serve 30 rising kindergarteners from July 6 to July 31. The program meets at the school from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday.

At the information session, parents will have the opportunity to learn more about the program from teachers and families who participated in the program last year.
