Student Reports Armed Robbery, Assault Near Gardens

On Friday at about 10:15 p.m. a Duke student reported being robbed while walking along Anderson Street near the entrance of the Sarah P. Duke Gardens. The student reported being attacked by the five individuals, one of whom assaulted the student with a box-cutter. The student reportedly threw cash on the ground and fled the scene.

Shortly after reporting the armed robbery and assault, three black females matching the suspects’ description were apprehended on Elba Street, near the parking garage across from Duke Hospital.

One of the remaining suspects is described as a black male with dark complexion in his late teens, about 6-feet tall with a husky build. He was wearing a gold cap, a black t-shirt and blue jeans. The second remaining suspect was described as a black male with dark complexion in his late teens, about 5-feet 7-inches tall with a stocky build. He was wearing grey and white sweats.
