Executive Vice President Tallman Trask announced last week that official management memos for the university will now be distributed through email from a new Managing@Duke account.

The new electronic medium will replace paper memos that have been sent to deans, directors and department heads. Trask said the tool will provide a more timely method of delivering important information.

“This new email tool is intended to keep managers better connected to the operations of the university and enable them to communicate more effectively with their staff,” he said.

Two types of messages will be delivered through this new tool: targeted memos on specific topics and biweekly updates. Targeted memos will only be used to distribute critical information about the university’s operational or academic endeavors. The biweekly updates will include brief descriptions about relevant topics for managers with links to additional information online.
