Deans from the Duke University Chapel and Law School will discuss money and the greater social good during a lunchtime event Wednesday, April 9, titled “What would you do with $100 million?”

This conversation in the Deans’ Dialogue series between Chapel Dean Sam Wells and Law School Dean David Levi takes place at 12:15 p.m. in Room 3041 of the Law School. Free pizza will be served before the talk, which is free and open to the public. The event will include time for audience members to ask questions.

In these dialogues, Wells discusses topics on the theme of promoting the common good with deans from various schools at Duke.

“Law has such a powerful hold on the American imagination; it sometimes seems there is no limit to the assumption that all problems can find a solution in court or in legislation,” Wells said. “But when lawyers turn from addressing disorder to creating order, what do they aspire to? That's what I'm keen to find out.”

This event is made possible in part by a grant from the Kenan Institute for Ethics at Duke.

Past dialogues in this series have included Divinity School Dean Greg Jones, Fuqua School of Business Dean Blair Sheppard and Environment School Dean Bill Chameides. Podcasts of these events are available at Duke Chapel’s iTunes U page and the Chapel website: www.chapel.duke.edu/media/podcasts.aspx.
