The Benefits of a Brisk Walk
Suggested lead: You might find it hard to make your aerobics class over the next several weeks, but that doesn't mean you have to miss out on getting your exercise. Tom Britt has more.

Durham, N.C. -- Mid-November through New Year's is a
lonely time at the gym. Many of us just can't seem to find the time
for that three-day- a-week workout. Fitness instructor Jami Norris
of the Duke University Medical Center's Center for Living says even
if you can't make it to class, you can still plan some physical
activity. An evening walk through the neighborhood can be a healthy
choice and something you look forward to.
Norris says it's obviously better if you can get some structured exercise. Even if you can't get in a full workout, you should still schedule exercise time through the holiday season, so you maintain the habit. And Norris says you should park far from the mall entrance, to give yourself some extra walking time. I'm Tom Britt.
Norris says it's easy to fall into an 'all-or-nothing' mindset, where you decide that if you can't get in a full workout, you'll simply skip a structured workout during the holidays.
